Mary Orton founded CHORD in 2024. Mary, a lifelong pianist, saw that the baseball cap had never been designed for women and spent years refining its fit, proportions and materials. She also runs Memorandum, her fashion and lifestyle blog.

The name CHORD comes from a chord, three notes played in harmony, standing for the many roles a woman brings together. The CHORD logo, a pair of upside-down piano pedals, nods to founder Mary Orton's background as a pianist, and the five lines of stitching on each brim mirror a musical staff.

CHORD caps are $115 to $195, depending on the fabric. Tempo performance caps are $115, Organic Cotton Twill caps are $125 and Suede caps are $195. The CHORD Clip is $40.

CHORD caps come in organic cotton twill, corduroy, denim, gingham, leopard print, bouclé, houndstooth, herringbone, wool pinstripe, genuine goat suede and nylon. Most styles have an adjustable 100% genuine leather closure, and Tempo caps have a nylon performance strap. Each product page lists that cap's exact fiber content under Materials.

CHORD caps fit head sizes 20.75 to 24.5 inches. An adjustable closure at the back sets the fit, and every cap is designed for a polished women's fit. Please confirm your head size falls within this range before ordering.

How to clean a CHORD cap depends on its fabric, and each product page lists the care under Wash & Care. Most fabrics are dry clean recommended and spot clean as needed. Genuine goat suede is dry clean only, with a professional leather and suede specialist. Tempo caps can be hand washed cold with mild detergent, then reshaped and air dried.

CHORD ships free by ground within the US, arriving in 5 to 7 business days. Express shipping takes 1 to 3 business days and costs $30. Orders are typically processed within 2 to 3 business days, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.

CHORD ships to Canada, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Australia, Switzerland and Norway. International orders are handled by Global-e, with prices shown in local currency.

CHORD offers free US returns within 14 days of receipt. Items must be new and unworn, with the original tags and dust bag, and each return needs pre-authorization through the CHORD returns portal. For international returns, email info@shopchord.com. Personalized caps are final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged.

CHORD charges pre-orders at the time of purchase. You will receive tracking information when your order ships.

CHORD regularly restocks bestselling and core styles, though timing and availability vary by style. On a sold-out cap's product page, sign up for restock notifications to be the first to know when it returns.

The CHORD Clip is a $40 gold-plated clip for carrying your cap when it is off your head. Its hinged opening attaches to a tote, belt loop, gym bag or carry-on, and it secures any CHORD cap.

THE CHORD CARD™ is CHORD's digital gift card, in amounts from $25 to $500. It arrives by email right after checkout and is redeemable only on shopchord.com. You can schedule it to reach your recipient's email on a set date, and print an insert to include in a card or gift box.
